南亞社群及錫克廟深度遊 Sikh Temple & South Asian Communities Tour

錫克教徒大多數來自旁遮普地區（Punjab），香港的教徒也不例外。早期的教徒可能早在1840年代已經來到香港，他們主要從事警察工作，或者是隨英軍來港的士兵。隨著在香港定居的教徒越來越多，錫克廟於1901年成立，提供社區服務。由於錫克教是一個崇尚平等的宗教，因此會向有需要的人提供免費膳食甚至住宿。

上半部分導賞團將由在港錫克教教徒兼旁遮普語導師Kaur和Chandni帶領，與參加者一起參觀整個錫克廟，包括共享飯堂、禮拜堂等。參加者可以與錫克教教徒交流，了解錫克教教徒的離散經驗，以及認識錫克教文化。細心觀察，其實錫克教徒與香港人的經歷頗為相似，同樣經歷過英國殖民統治。

下半部分導賞團，我們將深入了解多元社群在灣仔的衣食住行。在香港南亞朋友Chandni的帶領下，我們將參觀「國泰88」商場、不同社群經營的餐廳、雜貨店、清真肉檔等，邊逛街邊與店主交流。

Most Sikh devotees originate from the Punjab region, and Hong Kong's Sikh community is no exception. The earliest devotees likely arrived in Hong Kong as early as the 1840s, primarily working as police officers or soldiers accompanying British forces. As more Sikhs settled in Hong Kong, the Sikh temple was established in 1901 to provide community services. Since Sikhism is a religion that values equality, the temple offers free meals and even accommodation to those in need.

The first part of the guided tour will be led by Kaur and Chandni, Hong Kong-based Sikh community members and Punjabi language instructors. Participants will visit the entire Sikh temple, including the communal dining hall (Langar) and prayer hall. Visitors can interact with Sikh devotees, learn about the Sikh diaspora experience, and understand Sikh culture. Upon careful observation, you'll find that Sikhs and Hong Kong people share similar historical experiences, both having gone through British colonial rule.

In the second part of the tour, we will delve into the daily life of diverse communities in Wan Chai. Led by Chandni, our South Asian friend in Hong Kong, we will visit "Cathay 88" shopping mall, restaurants operated by different communities, grocery stores, halal meat stalls, and more, while conversing with shop owners during our walk.
